No – although our prime objective is to support a quality and expanding off site sector we support measures that will help to bring about a much more productive, high quality industry in the round. buildoffsite strongly supports innovation in traditional forms of on site assembly and in situ construction methods. For many projects – and particularly for refurbishment and repair projects or for those projects where there is only limited scope for repetition it is most unlikely that off site solutions will be competitive in the short term. However, we consider that for many construction programmes – including in particular new build and those major programmes that involve some element of product repetition there is a powerful case for off site solutions to be considered – provided that they can demonstrate value for money.
