“Staying hot for longer” is really a question of rate of cooling. The rate of cooling is governed by the container material (ability to conduct heat) and the temperature differential (between the environment and the water). If it were possible to hold all other factors equal, you are more likely to end up with equal results (although a metal pot in the mic or a plastic container on the stovetop is not likely to end very well) Strictly speaking, the energy in equal masses of water is the same, as long as both are at the same temperature. As one answer specified, it is possible to superheat some regions of the water in the mic, but this is an unstable condition (be careful). It is also possible to superheat water on the stove top, but it is much more difficult to accomplish due to convection currents in the water. I think you’re wiser for even trying to find the answer.
