Does BMI matter for people who weight lift?

Actually they would not be classed as overweight because they have an extreme body type which the charts were not made for, thus they should not use them. The BMI was only supposed to be a quick general guide and not the be all and end all. No you shouldn’t ignore it. Just because you do exercise doesn’t mean you are a bodybuilder. If you are an actual body builder or athlete then ignore it. It’s usually pretty obvious if your weight is fat or muscle so if you are confused by your BMI reading you’d be better off getting an eye test instead of worrying about your weight.
