Does bleeding in the 1st trimester always mean a misicarriage?
My wife had the exact same thing yesterday and only a little further along than you. She went to see the doctor at 6.30 last night and had a vaginal ultrasound this morning at 8.30. The Baby was too small to see a heartbeat but you could see the yolk sack and the embryo. We have another scan booked for 10 days time to make sure all is well. The nurse said it is quite possibly implantation bleeding where the embryo buries itself deeper into the uterus, as opposed to the implantation bleeding you can sometimes get about 8-10 days after conception. I was really impressed with how the doctor and hospital staff reacted to this ‘scare’ and how quickly they got the scan organised. Although one can’t help worrying at these early stages of pregnancy they have put our minds at rest and hopefully next week we will see a heartbeat, or at least a larger sized embryo to confirm that everything is ok. At the moment it is only 13mm long. The added benefit of this scan is that it has ruled out ectopic
