Does being smarter always mean being more skeptical of religion?

It is extremely difficult for smarter people to employ the one thing which ALL religions require in order to accomodate belief…Intellectual DIShonesty. It does not matter how much one part of my brain might want to believe in, say, the christian religion, the other parts of my brain will not allow belief in a talking snake until the day comes when I am engaged in a conversation with a talking snake. Even if I was struck down by some disease and given 6 months to live…the intellectually honest part of me would never let me forgot the parts of the bible where god kills babies to teach adults lessons in fear. No matter how much one part of my brain may try to twist this stupidity into something to be excused and justified…there are still parts of me that will ALWAYS scream BABY KILLER!!! And in all honesty I could never respect or love or worship or fear a god that is so stupid he cannot see the hundreds of other ways to instill fear in adults without killing babies.
