Well, despite all of the slick marketing by hardbodies on TV, light and low-carb beer might not be the best option if you want to transform your beer belly into a six pack. The reason: most people drink more light beer than they would regular beer because they feel “less guilty”! Light and low-carb beers are only beneficial if you don’t consume more than you would regular beer. The vast majority of calories in beer come from the alcohol, so when a beer maker reduces the calories in a beer the first thing to go is the alcohol. So drinking light beer is a bit pointless in that regard, as many people consider the “buzz” the main reason for drinking beer instead of seltzer water (although some light beers are pretty darn close to seltzer in my humble opinion).
