Does bear baiting still occur?
Some areas prohibit baiting animals. There are some who set out food or salt to get an animal comfortable going by or to a particular spot. The hunter knows the distances from his stand to the animal. He clears away the firing lanes for a clear shot. It may be likened to shooting fish in a barrel. I saw a video of hunters spearing bear from a tree stand. The power of the impaled bear was awesome. I did find it unsettling. Every year poachers, especially, are caught baiting. Guides have been caught baiting to increase the chances his clients would have a “Successful” hunt. On the other hand, what is using decoys, if not baiting. Legal or not, ethical or not, there will always be some one out there baiting to increase their odds of bagging a trophy. I’ve always hunted for the fun of enjoying the outdoors. Give the animal an equal chance and chances are he’ll elude the part time predator. I like to forage; Most of my hunts end in collecting Mushrooms, Berries or other wild edible instead
