Does bandwidth actually cost ISPs money?
in its simplest form, the bandwidth itself doesn’t necessarily cost money (if you own the network entirely), but there is a cost to setup & maintain the network in terms of equipment & expertise, and that cost must be passed onto users of the network & the amount you use the connection should dictate how much each user should need to pay. measuring how much bandwidth a customer uses is a fair way to distribute your costs across the customer base.
