Does Bamboo use Vivaldi?

0

No. Bamboo comes with an implementation of Vivaldi, and our PlanetLab deployment is running that implementation, but for curiosity only. Bamboo uses recursive routing, which has no need for network coordinates. All neighbor selection in Bamboo is done using direct latency measurements, and all timeouts are calculated based on direct observations of past performance. Our USENIX paper showed the negative impact that using network coordinates for timeout estimation can have on lookup performance under churn.
