Does Avant-Garde use piercing guns?
At Avant-Garde we will not use ear-piercing guns, even on an earlobe. There are many reasons for this, with the main one being that it is impossible to sterilize these piercing guns between uses. Also the design of the jewelry is not appropriate, even for the earlobes, the post of the earring is too short to allow for swelling and cleaning. The backing clips block the hole allowing for a build-up of fluids that should ordinarily be drained and cleaned away resulting in a much higher risk of infection. Also the pain is actually greater with a piercing gun than with a needle because the point on an earring stud is blunt, whereas a needle point is much sharper.
