Does authentic pizza in Italy have a slightly blackened crust?

Just ordered some pizza that was wonderful! I noticed the crust on both pizzas was slightly blackened and I wondered if this was the norm in Italy. The oven was made of wood and would hit 850 degrees. If you’ve been to Italy and tried pizza from the locals, I’d appreciate hearing from you.
