Does Australia Post undertake screening for quarantine purposes?
Following the 2001 outbreak of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) in the United Kingdom, a range of measures were introduced to increase Australia’s preparedness against exotic animal diseases, including FMD. This included inspection of 100 per cent of incoming international mail. Australia Post works closely with the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service and the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service.
