Does ASU support 802.11n?

0

ASU’s Wireless service is dual radio 802.11ag. All 802.11n cards are compliant with the “g” radio and many are compliant with the “a” radio as well. This means that your 802.11n card will work at ASU, but won’t be able to use “n” radio, except in buildings constructed after the end of 2008. ASU expects there to be hardware replacement of our Wireless APs before we can support 802.11n in all locations. Any wireless client card used on campus must support the 802.11ag standards. 802.11n is not currently supported on ASU’s wireless network. Status of 802.11n: • 802.11n is a currently a draft standard from the IEEE. The IEEE is expected to ratify the final 802.11n standard in December 2009. • 802.11n Draft 2 has received wide acceptance, and is being deployed as a better performing technology then 802.11abg.
