ASR does not ping any of the ASR assets. If the ASR asset is completely down (no power, for example), ASR will not detect this situation. ASR depends on SNMP traps from the ASR asset. You still need to monitor your ASR assets, even when ASR is active. (ASR is limited to opening service requests for specific faults only — it is not a replacement for a monitoring solution.
