Does ASL filter its Internet connection?
ASL does not filter the Internet connection used at the school for several reasons. The first is that the policy of the school is to actively observe and monitor student Internet usage, instead of relying on software that can be overly restrictive or circumvented by students. Secondly, our program involves the development of self-sufficiency and self-limiting by students, and a non-filtered Internet connection is part of that challenge and trust that we invest in students. Third, we believe in students learning to deal with real world experiences, and a filtered Internet is not common in student homes or other social environments.
