Does Arlington County have a choice to not comply with the law?
As directed by the Arlington County Board, County staff is examining the options available to Arlington to not participate in the Secure Communities Initiative. Through discussions with the Virginia State Police and Immigration and Customs Enforcement, we will determine what would be required of Arlington County regarding notification to both agencies of “suspected criminal aliens” as a non-activated community.
