Does Appalachian Teen Challenge follow abuse prevention procedures?
Most definitely! We realize that physical abuse, particularly sexual abuse against minors, has reached unprecedented proportions. Even though the Appalachian Teen Challenge is an adult residential program (minors are placed in juvenile centers elsewhere), we still believe in the protection of our residents. Our staff are required to follow very strict procedures to ensure they and the students are protected. Staff are not permitted to be alone with any student under any circumstances! This is just one of the many strict guidelines we adhere to without question.* * Prior to being hired for employment with Appalachian Teen Challenge, an extensive background check is conducted on each applicant. Applicants with prior felony sexual abuse convictions are denied employment.
