Does anyone who meets the requirements in §35.2, Definitions, meet the requirements to serve as Radiation Safety Officer (RSO)?

Yes. Section 35.2 provides the definition of an RSO as an individual who meets the training and experience requirements in §§35.50(a) or (c) and 35.59. If an individual meets these requirements, an individual will be able to serve as RSO. However, the licensee would still have to apply for a license amendment request before it permits the individual to work under its license. Refer to “Supplementary Information,” Section III, “Summary of Public Comments and Responses to Comments,” Part II, “General Issues,” Subpart E, “Training and Experience,” as published in the Federal Register on April 24, 2002.
