Does anyone think that amputees should be allowed to play professional sports?
Answer That is a tricky question. On one hand, an amputee should be allowed to play in professional sports (the literal definition: getting paid to play sports) and do at this time (Running, Cycling, Motorcycling, Surfing, Golf). On the other hand, there are several sports that a prosthesis could not handle(i.e. NFL, NHL, NBA, WNBA, MLB(possibly a pitcher in the AL), Worlds Strongest Man). At this point in time i do not believe that a prosthesis can be made to take the demands of certain professional sports. Even if the patient was in iron-man condition with the strength of the worlds strongest man, the prosthesis could not be made to last nor comfortable enough to wear 24 hrs a day/ 7 days a week(that is what a professional career would require). In order to be at the top level such as a professional, the individual would have eat, breath, and live sports. Very little down time with weights, film, interviews, travel, etc. This is just strictly my personal observation regarding prosthe
