Find a good solicitor. Get emotional support for you – no matter how much you may pretend you couldn’t care less, at some point the divorce will touch an emotional nerve. Consider counselling. Be realistic – everything won’t be rosy the moment the divorce comes through. This takes time. Get financial advice – divorce can be costly. Have no regrets.

If you are thinking about it you must have good reasons so do it. You could always remarry if it was meant to be. That was some sage advice given to me…thank *God* we never remarried!

1. First and formost. If there are children involved KEEP THEM OUT OF IT! Don’t argue in front of them, don’t talk about the other in front of them, don’t blame the other for the divorce. “Mommy and daddy can’t live together any more but they still love you very much” is all they need to know. 2. Think seriously befor you start, it is not to be done on a whim. 3. Once you start, do not go back. 4. It took time to fall in love, it will take time to fall out of love. 5. Don’t rush to find someone else. You won’t “be right” for a while, just spent a few months getting to know and love yourself. 6. Just because you are divorced doesn’t mean you have to hate each other. Good luck!

Im actually going through a divorce right now and Ill tell you…its not easy nor fun. It gets really ugly in the end. There are battles over finances and property. I really wish it didnt come to that, but he was being very unreasonable about it, so it got ugly. I hope it doesnt turn out that way for you. The best advice I can give you is to keep your head up and think about it before you make such a life altering decision. Best of luck to you, and I hope this helped.
