Drop shipping sounds like a great deal but your problem will be finding a real drop ship source. 99% of the ones you find in a search will be regular retailers who mark-up your costs. Beware of companies who want a “set -up” fee, or activation fee, or some other up-front payment for your business. Ask them for a current catalog and find out how much they actually carry on their shelves. Turn this around and look at it from the company’s point of view. If they are real wholesalers, why would they be willing to spend their time on small orders from you? They expect to move product in pallet loads at minimum and price accordingly. The only reason they’ll want your business is if you can guarantee them a certain level of business every month. Drop shipping sounds great but you’ll find it awkward to get started unless you already do a lot of business with a manufacturer.
