Does Anyone Remember That Young Blues Guitarist…?
It might be Joe Bonamassa. He opened for B.B. King… when he was 12 years old. He is about 28 years old now, so ten years ago he would have been around 18. I am a blues-rock guitarist and I think Joe is one of the best in the world, possibly THE best in his style. I would LOVE to be able to hold my own with Joe on stage, and am hoping to be able to jam with him someday. Johnny Lang is cool, but Joe Bonamassa can probably “play circles around him”. Joe is definitely one of the best blues-rock guitarists around today, so if you are into that style you should definitely check him out.
Johnny Lang is probably the guy you remember. However, it is possible that you’re thinking of Kenny Wayne Shepherd. Lang has a great voice, especially considering his age. KWS is primarily a guitarist and has a “hired gun” on his albums doing most of the vocal chores. Shepherd underwent rehab and came out with version 2 not too long ago. Lang is from North Dakota. Shepherd is from Louisiana. Both, being so young when they hit it big, have matured quite a bit since we were first introduced to them.
