Does anyone remember Mandy Miller,child star of the late 50-early 60s?
I remember her well. She was 60 this year! I found this: “The sensitive-looking British child star of the fifties was born Carman Isabella Miller in 1944 but affectionately called “Mandy” practically from birth. Her father, a BBC Radio producer, took Mandy (then age 6) and her older sister to watch a film being made at Ealing Studios. Instead of her sister it was Mandy who impressed the powers-that-be at the studio commissary that day and was offered a small role in Alec Guinness’ film The Man in the White Suit (1951). The little girl took to acting and eagerly signed up for classes along with dancing lessons, and found some work in commercial modeling. She achieved in the 50s what child star Hayley Mills would in popularity a decade later, except in a dramatic vein. Mandy’s strong suit was definitely tearjerkers.
