Does anyone remember listening to Dopey Duncan (Luther Gehringer)?

Absolutely! He did a daily morning radio show on 1320 WKAP, Allentown, PA, with Paul Galgon. The show was called “Two on the Sunny Side”. I believe the show was 6A to 10A. He also did a weekly broadcast on a Saturday morning from Walp’s Restaurant which was located at Airport Road and Union Blvd. in Allentown. The show was called “Breakfast at Walp’s” and I believe it aired 9A to 10A. Dopey recorded a song – a take off of “Mule Train” – with a Pennsylvania Dutch flair. Very funny song. I wish I had a copy of it. As a kid I started my day at 5 AM with WKAP when they signed on the air and ended it at night when they signed off at 1 AM. I even remember the complete DJ lineup. Actually, listening to WKAP as enthusiastically as I did is what made me decide to choose a career in radio. You can contact me at: bill@wmgh.com if you need more info.
