It wasn’t a horror movie, but I think I know the one you’re talking about. It was a TV movie from 1993 called They’ve Taken Our Children: The Chowchilla Kidnapping. The driver was Karl Malden. A bus full of school kids along with their driver are kidnapped and held for ransom while the bus is buried in an underground pit in Chowchilla Mexico. It’s based on a true story. I remember watching this on TV when it first ran.
