Does anyone remember a forerunner of lego – a building brick set consisting of metal rods and bricks?

I remember that! The blocks of bricks windows and doors slid down th metal rods that poked upwards from the base. They did some entire roofs but mainly it was gable ends and roof tiles that clicked together. There were metal plates of all sizes that made floors or went onto the tops of walls to align the rods to fit the roof. It was called Bako (Can’t be sure of the spelling) pronounced bay-co. We had loads of it though I don’t know what happened to it.
