Does anyone own or use a mossberg bolt action shotgun ?
I had a Marlin 20ga. bolt action once (almost the exact same design as Mossberg) and it worked well with a two shot detachable box magazine and a 28″ barrel. It fed shells reliably and fired and ejected them with no problems. They are not as fast as a pump I would say is their only drawback and I wouldn’t call it “Major”. These guns were made primarily as small game and bird guns so old Jed could put some meat in the pot for his family. They were dirt cheap and free of most of the frills and extras we crave nowadays. Simple smooth wood stock and brass bead front sight and not much more because it didn’t need it to drop a dove or a squirrel. A real honest food gun made by the hundreds of thousands in the late 40’s and 50’s but as time went on the pump action took over in popularity. Mossberg still makes them but as you can see by the answers you’ve received most people have never heard of them. Slow and laid back hunting style shotgun probably most famous for the 30″ Goose Gun.
