Does anyone own a Flemish Giant rabbit?

0

My grandfather used to breed and show Flemish Giants. Apparently they only live four-five years. They tend to die more from sudden heart problems because of their size, hence a lower life expectancy. However, they are very gentle, docile rabbits. They know their own minds and are happy to flick their feet at your if you have annoyed them, but apart from that they are a lot calmer than smaller breeds. They are slightly harder to keep in terms of requiring larger living quarters (great as a house rabbit), more food (think a pile of hay at least the size of your bunny once a day – at least!), and obviously more grooming due to the time it takes to groom a big bun! I say if you have the space and the finances for a Flemish Giant you should get one (if you are about most of the time) or two. Get them neutered! Check with shelters for rabbits needing homes first – people often buy giant species as babies and abandon them once they realise how big they can grow! Pets at Home sell them for £12
