Does anyone on here actually like decent horror movies or is it just the mainstream Hollywood rubbish?
Horror movies can cause and aggrevate mental trauma. It would be incredible if they didn’t. I do agree that most films in the horror genre are far less scary than Peter Stringfellows beachwear, but find the right trigger for someone and they will have nightmares. Repeated nightmares can then lead to various stress related syndromes and in some cases schizophrenia. I can remmember as I child seing a film called Camille? which involved heavily decayed bodies being repeatedly laid out in a morgue. That gave me nightmares for months. I don’t think a producer would finance a decent horror movie anymore. The money men won’t believe that a modern audience will sit still long enough to allow you to build up a serious amount of suspense. They want films with constant action in them. I think it is a misguided attitude, but money talks.
