Does anyone like The Pre-Raphaelite artists? Who prefers modern artists?
Thanks for asking this question. I like any art that has a meaning. I might not particularly like a specific painting’s composition, but if I can understand an underlying theme, then I can be completely turned on by something. I didn’t know much about Pre-Raphaelite artists to comment on them, but your question made me do a little research. I think I love the Pre-Raphaelites!Typically I find representational art more intriguing because it demonstrates the artist’s ability to paint while the composition can still have meaning and not just be beauty for the sake of beauty. (Or shock value for the sake of shock for that matter.) I am not as fond of modern art. I would put Jackson Pollack and Andy Warhol in that category. While the impact of what they’ve done and the context and era in which they painted is clear, I am not as excited about seeing one of their works. I did see a Peter Max painting I really liked once.
