Does anyone know why there are so many different leaf shapes?
I can’t say I know, but I can conjecture as well as anyone! In different environments, there are different amounts of rainfall. Some leaves are shaped with cannels and spouts for dealing with rain. There are differences in temperature and humidity from one place to another, as well as variation in adaptations and habits of parasites, folivores, etc. Another thing to remember is that evolution doesn’t always result in IDEAL adaptations, just workable ones.
