Does anyone know where I can purchase sparring gear / equipment?
Sports Authority does handle some of it. Instead of that though I would approach a studio owner and see if he will cut you a deal and order some for you if he does not have it in stock. Some of them advertise in their yellow page ads a Pro-shop or equipment and uniform sales as well as lessons. If not then check on what Century requires to establish a wholesale account these days and see how much you and your friends are wanting to order. They are currently running a special on their P2 gear as well as some of their MMA type gear and you and a few friends may have enough of an order to establish a wholesale account.
Since I don’t know where you live it’s kinda hard, but I would go to a local martial arts studio. Usually they sell equipment and it doesn’t matter if you are a student there or not. They can at least refer you somewhere if they don’t sell anything. I am in san jose, CA. Out here we have several retail stores, like On The Mat (OTM they have several locations, check online and see if there’s one near you) and The Fight Shop. Also for a regular sporting goods store, Sports Chalet seems to have a little better selection than Sports Authority.
