Does anyone know what time the meteor shower starts tonight?
The Perseids Peaked early this morning (12-Aug-2009) however, there is a strong possibility that there will still be a decent showing tonight. You’ll need to observing on August 12th. What’s left of the Perseids should peak between 2:30 and 4:30AM on the 13th of August. (See the link below). That doesn’t mean that your won’t see any meteors before or after that time. It just that it’s usually the time period when most showers peak. I also suggest bringing some lawn chairs that fold out flat and a lite blanket (yes even in August it can get chilly at 2:30AM). Also, bring plenty of bug-spray or insect replant wipes. Also cut off all of the house lights and use only red light flashlights. See the link below for some observing tips.
