What is true is the UK may or may not be considered true in the US – what was true 5/10/50 years ago may not be true today. In your dissertation you need to define the terms you use in your paper as accurate for your paper. When you cite a paper you need to look for what they used as their definition. I know many people who consider my son to be severely disabled. He is labeled by the school system as severely cognitively impaired. My partner considers him severely disabled. I don’t. I don’t think my son thinks of himself that way. A lot of what people consider when labeled is how does that person differ from the norms I am most familiar with?
