Does anyone know what gun Leonardo DiCaprios character, Billy Costigan, carries in The Departed?
What a great movie! In the scenes where he is undercover, Billy Costigan (played by DiCaprio) carries a Walther PPK in stainless steel. This weapon is probably chambered in .380 ACP (a medium-powered round, less powerful than typical police calibers like the 9mm and .40 S&W). Walther also makes an identical looking .32 ACP version, but this is a much less powerful round and I would assume Costigan would carry the .380 version. PPKs have been around since the 1930s, and are manufactured by the German firearms company Walther. The current ones sold in the US are made under license by Smith & Wesson.
