Does anyone know what employers are looking for in a job seeker?
This is a huge “it depends” question. When we hire candidates, we ALWAYS look for a few core qualities – we want intelligent, energetic people who are motivated. People who don’t know what they want from life don’t make good employees – they tend to only be able to do (well) the types of jobs we replace with robots. “Clock punchers” (as we call them) are the worst – people who just come in for their scheduled hours, do what they’re assigned, and go home, never to think about the company again until their next shift, yeah, maybe that’s fine for somebody stocking grocery shelves but not for much more. As for a degree it depends. We’re in the IT industry, and it’s becoming very common to hire without one, especially because college tech courses are a joke. It’s always amusing to see a candidate say they did very well in their college Java course, then see what happens when they see a REAL Java project. Colleges just can’t keep up. Then again, I wouldn’t hire somebody for legal counsel wit
