Does anyone know what a healthy cholesterol level is for the 30-40 age groups?
The American Heart Association recommends keeping your LDL cholesterol below 100 milligrams per deciliter of blood, but up to 129 mg/dL is acceptable. Borderline high cholesterol is 130 to 159 mg/dL; 160 to 189 mg/dL is considered high. Over 190 mg/dL is very high and should be addressed immediately with your doctor through drug therapy and lifestyle modifications. It is optimal to have an HDL level of more than 60 mg/dL, which helps prevent heart disease. Low HDL is under 40 mg/dL, so try to raise it to decrease your heart disease risk.
