Does anyone know the origins of baggy pants in hip hop?
Baggy clothes allowed rappers to move more easily while they danced. Their shoes had to be comfortable. The baggy pants young men wear today did not come from rap or the hip hop movement. It originated in prison. The inmates were not allowed to have belts, so their pants dropped down around their hips. As they were released from prison, they kept this style.
