Does anyone know the nurses role of maintaining personal hygiene?

0

It is essentially about maintaining all the things we do daily to keep ourselves functioning and free of disease, washing, cleaning teeth, cleaning hair, elimination, intimate personal hygiene such as washing genitalia, shaving etc. Then think about how to plan and carry out care for a patient who can no longer do this because of a stroke or being unconcious or being psychotic, for example. You would need to find out what they normally do, do they have dentures, do they have soap allergies, how often do they wash their hair? etc etc. Also it is about how their illness presents challenges to providing hygiene, how you get around the obstacles (such as being bed bound). Hope this helps.
