Does anyone know the history of the Bonsniun muslim flag and what the symbol means ?
The symbols are Islamic. The crescent and star were the traditional insignia of the Byzantine city of Constantinople. They were proudly adopted by the Ottoman Turks when they conquered Constantinople. The crescent was ultimately derived from the cult of the goddess Diana (Artemis), the Greek (Roman) goddess of the moon, and that it was retained by Constantine after the Roman Empire converted to Christianity, by adding the Star of Bethlehem in the centre.
