Does anyone know the differences between a private high school and public high school ?
Public schools provide a broad range of educational opportunities for all children, regardless of income, race or physical or mental abilities. The cost of education is paid for by public funds (local, federal and state taxes). Private schools provide focused education for select groups based on the school charter. The charter may be religious, ethnic, economic or any number of other concerns. The cost of education is funded by tuition, donations, and investments. Private schools may receive public money if they agree to abide by certain state and federal laws, which include non-discrimination in hiring, and standardized testing.
I can think of a couple things: 1) Depending on whether or not the private school is affiliated with a church, it may require a certain number of theology credits as well as normal coursework. 2) Public schools are generally larger and have a wider variety of classes and student organizations. 3) Private schools generally have a superior academic reputation. 4) Most private schools require uniforms. 5) Obviously, tuition. That’s all I have off the top of my head. Hope it helps!
