One idea – someone could go through the Society pages in the newspaper for the last week or two. Call the mother of the bride for each wedding story. Ask her who they used and if she was happy with the cake. If the mom in the story is Mary Smith, give it a pass. If she is Esmerelda Jablonski, you will probably be able to find her in the phone book. Since you are out of town, you can’t do this easily, but I assume someone you know lives in Davenport and would be willing to do it for you. While I’m at it, if you are under 30 you may be inclined to “mush” the first forkfull of cake into your groom’s face. About 20% of young people do this. You might consider this: Hand him a slice on a plate, courtsey and say “It is my pleasure to serve you. I hope to serve you for the rest of my life.” He could then hand you a slice on a plate, bow and say “It is my pleaseure to serve you. I hope to serve you for the rest of my life.
