Does anyone know some foundations(in Australia, prefferable WA) that can help someone with lung cancer ?
This is less of an issue in Australia than in many other countries. The patient qualifies for sickness benefits. All medical costs are covered by medicare with a co-payment (gap). If he is on sickness benefits, he would qualify for a health care card which in most cases reduces the gap to nothing. In total, the gap payment is capped at (from memory) $600 per calendar year at which time it reduces to zero. There are also foundations etc that assist with other expenses. Try the Cancer Council for initial information, although the treating oncologist can probably also provide this in formation. There is no reason for a cancer patient to go without treatment in Australia.
