Does anyone know simply equations for calculating pot odds in texas holdem poker in these situations?
First off, you are not talking about pot odds, you are talking about outs. Pot odds is the ratio of the amount of money you could win, versus the cost of calling. What you are looking for is the odds of making a drawing hand, in other words outs. Here’s how that works: There are 52 unseen cards in the deck, once you get dealt your hole cards you have seen 2 out of 52. Once the flop comes you have seen five out of 52. There are therefore 47 unseen cards out there that you could potentially see on the turn. After the turn there are 46 unseen cards, any one of which you could get on the river. There are some complicated (at least to figure in your head) methods of accurately figuring your odds, but the easiest approximation is the rule of 2 and 4. First off, you need to figure your outs. Secondly we multiply that number by 4 (or double it twice) to figure your odds on the flop. Or multiply by 2 to figure out your odds on the turn. I’ll work through your examples to show you how it is done
