Does anyone know of the best way to keep wasps away from our garden?
Wasps are a great addition to gardens. Not only do they help pollinate your flowers but they also kill a lot of harmful pests that can destroy your garden. I have many wasps and bees that visit my garden and I have yet to get stung or bit by any of them. But if you are concerned or are allergic, you can try a wasp/hornet trap they sell in most stores that have garden supplies. Place the trap away from your garden in a area that isn’t populated by people, pets or flowers. http://www.campingworld.com/browse/skus/index.cfm?skunum=74014&rewrote&affiliateid=5193&gclid=CN-Qh_mC3MkCFYkdgQodAzcIog
I don’t have that problem with my garden, but encounter wasps during many camping trips. My solution may or may not work for your situation. What I do is select a spot, in the brush a little bit away from our campsite. I hang a small bit of raw meat, such as a slice of bacon, or chicken skin from a twig or branch. I make sure it is downwind from us. The meat will attract wasps, so they hang around that piece and don’t bother us. After a day or two, the meat begins to spoil and works even better to attract the pests. I spent an interesting few days, camped next to an underground wasp nest. I had great fun with my binoculars, observing their behavior and never got stung or bothered.
