Does anyone know of any egg substitutes that can be used for someone whos allergic to egg?
I have bought both, but have only used the Orgran No Egg Natural Egg Replacer. I love this one. Last year I bought the Ener-G Egg Replacer only to find out later on that it is made on the same presses as peanuts. My son is not allergic to peanuts, but due to family history, it is a food that we are avoiding. Therefore, we couldn’t use this brand due to cross-contamination. I have heard that it is good, though. Then last month, we came across the Orgran No Egg Natural Egg Replacer. My husband and I have decided to try it as Orgran is a brand we have come to know and trust. (We use their pastas, flours, pizza dough, breads, and more). We bought one box to try, and it works great. After using it once, I came online and purchased an entire box of the stuff! So far we have made chicken nuggets (with safe bread crumbs), pancakes and my birthday cake. All of these items have come out great. *** These are just two egg replacers. Depending on what you’re making, you can use other substitutes. 2
Eggs are among the most nutritious foods on earth and can be part of a healthy diet. However, they are perishable just like raw meat, poultry, and fish. Today some unbroken, clean, fresh shell eggs may contain Salmonella enteritidis bacteria that can cause food borne illness. While the number of eggs affected is quite small, there have been cases of food borne illness in the last few years. To be safe, eggs must be properly handled, refrigerated, and cooked. No one should eat foods containing raw eggs. This includes “health food” milk shakes made with raw eggs, Caesar salad, Hollandaise sauce, and any other foods like homemade mayonnaise, ice cream, or eggnog made from recipes in which the egg ingredients are not cooked. To make a recipe safe that specifies using eggs that aren’t cooked, heat the eggs in a liquid from the recipe over low heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture reaches 160 °F. Then combine it with the other ingredients and complete the recipe. What is a good substi
The protein from egg can also be derived from a meal combination of milk, curd and cheese. In this regard, cow milk being lighter in terms of nutrients and fats, is conisered better than other sources of milk. By adding curd and cheese to one’s diet along with daily intak of milk, the combination is more than sufficient to provide the body required amount of proteins and ohter essential minerals. The extra benfit of this comination is that in addition to provide protein and minerals, taking curd regularly helps in reducing the bad cholestrol in blood. Additionally, taking hot milk at night time just before sleep is also work as a kind of purgative that helps ease bowl movements in the morning. This has all been substantiated in various research conducted in several countries over the years. However, I cannot recall any specific such report now.
