Foot drop can be a symptom of a back problem – but your friend needs another opinion – an orthopedist or neurologist may be able to shed some light – back surgery has many drawbacks and I would not consider that as a top of the list choice- a bit surprised to hear that from a chiropractor but perhaps the point is to have the person take it seriously and get help.
