Does anyone know if wrist blood pressure cuffs are reliable?
Wrist blood-pressure cuffs are as accurate as arm cuffs if used correctly. However, they are more sensitive to changes in position or body temperature than cuffs that fit over the upper arm. Wrist cuffs also tend to underestimate high systolic pressures (the top number in a blood-pressure reading) compared to arm cuffs. If you use a wrist cuff, it’s recommended that you take it to your doctor’s appointment so that its readings can be compared to those taken using the doctor’s office equipment.
