Does anyone know if the thailand airports are affected by the riots at the moment?
The airport in Bangkok is currently open and operating normally. It will be unlikely that the airport will close with the situation the way it is now. The current government does have the backing of the military and they will not allow the red-shirted protesters to take over the airport, unlike when the yellow-shirted protesters took over the airport late last year. The real question is if it’s safe to visit Thailand now. It probably is but you may be slightly inconvenienced with things like massive traffic tie ups, early closing of shops, or some closing up altogether until things settle down. For the most part, the business community is operating normally so there should be no problems with banks and most restaurants. If you still want to go, stay away from the main protest area around parliament house and if you see trouble brewing where you are, leave the area immediately. It you’re prepared for some slight inconveniences there should be little problems.
