Does anyone know if acid reflux can cause heart palpitations?
There are several arrhythmias that can be described as a palpitation by the lay person. Short bursts of atrial tachycardia, short bursts of atrial fibulation, what is sometimes called a skipped beat, which is usually and extra beat, followed by a longer rest period, also knows as a PVC or VPC (premature ventricular contraction) or you can have an ectopic beat (An extra beat starting from different parts of the heart). Since you say the heart rate is twice normal, I suspect atrial tachycardia. If you are normal at 72, then twice that is 144, and that is pretty fast for a resting heart rate. As far as I know there is no direct connection between acid reflux and tachycardia, unless someone gets very anxious about the pain. Are you sure about the acid reflux? Coke (the drink) is acidic.
